That might be due to inflation as Sue had her's 10 years ago. I hope you had the breast as the legs are stringy and full of tendons. I do know about pheasants. When I hunted I killed and cleaned and ate about 30 of them a year for 20 years.

Best pheasant I've ever had was when I boned out and cold smoked 2 pheasant breasts. A friend had some moose steaks and I also had 2 deer tenderloins. Started with the smoked breasts, butter, wrapped with the tenderloins, butter, wrapped with the moose, wrapped with bacon. Tied that mess together and cooked it on a Weber Grill for several hours. Slice off a chunk and you got all the flavors.
