I sometimes wonder just how people like chirac get elected?

Consider who else was on the ballot.

Chirac Issues Statement for African Nations without Consent

The guy is politically self-destructing.... He's bet the farm on being able to successfully oppose the US over Iraq policy.. And he's almost guaranteed that France will be marginalized in the UN for the foreseeable future.

<I sometimes wonder just how people like chirac get elected?>

One can wonder all one likes, but it was a democratic process. Can't gripe, just because in our eyes he's currently unpopular. He does not seem to be unpopular in France.

Next elections he may or not get re-elected. The people of France will vote their choice.
