Do you think the present crop of Politicians in office is wise enough to take advantage of the following to save American or civilian casualties or will GWB just command a direct a mad dash to Bagdad ( the one place where Saddam is most likely not to be) ? I am filled with what if questions......................................... What if hundreds of people are now leaning over tables comparing the recent U-2 photos with those taken 10 years ago. Looking for displaced vegetation, long shallow lines of raised earth following buried optical cables, new or heavier power lines that may lead to hidden factories. What if the U-2 is carrying IR cameras to locate underground heat sources or ventilation ducts at night What if the U-2 is carrying mapping radar or laser to detect new hills or mounds created by underground construction What if the US inspection team members are examining hundreds of buildings to determine which ones are of no value and therefore we dont have to waste missiles on them What if the Inspectors are carrying a recording gravimeter in one of the vehicles which would respond to any hidden tunnel or excavation and in conjunction with GPS readings provide us with the location of same What if our inspectors are trained to recognize anything like terminals used for fiber-optics networks or radar antennas or tracking devices installed on buildings I dont expect any answers to these, just trying to point out that the value of information being gathered may be sufficient to offset any disadvantage of delaying operations for a few weeks. Besides driving Saddam right up a tree trying to figure whether when or even if he has to seek shelter Sig
