Brumar - There is no question that the US, among some other countries, sold Iraq both the material and the know how necessary for its chemical and biological warfare programs.

Along with the VX antidote, the US sold quite a few very dangerous bacteria to Iraq that I have listed. I find it difficult to believe they were sold for theoretical research purposes, oblivious to the uses they could be put.

We did ship the same type tissue lots of other places.

Like, where?

If we had "sold them chemical weapons" a couple decades ago - which isn't true

Huh? You make me sorry that I spent the time digging up the reports, names of chemical and biological agents, and the companies that supplied them :-)

"Which isn't true", indeed...

... it would be an argument that we know they have WMD's and should force them to should prove they've all been destroyed.

It would be a good first step to accept that they were sold in the first place. That would destroy Bush's argument that "he is evil, a monster who used chemical weapons, and so we need to invade", for the US knew full well what his character was when they supported him against Iran, and sold them the agents he used in gassing people.

Then we can talk about what to do now. Not just for Iraq but also in the case of other threats.

It is just very annoying to hear this denial all the time - no we never helped him, etc. Especially annoying when coupled with the holier-thanb-thou attitude of your administration - we are good, they are evil, I know in my guts what is right, et cetera ad nauseam...
