William, I would like to echo Carolyn's sentiments and thank you for your service and sacrifice on behalf of our country. If the time comes to commit our troops against Iraq, they will have the full support of the majority of the American people. What is sad about the current debate is that many of Bush's critics have personalized the issue and, whether or not they will ever admit it, they will take secret delight in any U.S. setbacks. I have tried to keep an open mind about the critics, many of whom are both articulate and rational, but I have little patience for those who have made it a personal issue. Anyone who thinks that Bush would cynically send our men and women into harms way for purely political or economic considerations is beneath contempt. Hopefully, it will be the most difficult decision of Bush's administration. It will not be one that he take lightly.

I noticed you were assigned assault helicopters. My neighbor was a Marine Jet pilot instructor. He was shot down twice in Viet Nam and said he would have been killed or captured had it not been for the helicopter pilots and crews, so I salute you also.

I too add my sincere Thanks for you, William, and all the men and women like you who, over the years, have given so very much to all of us. There truly aren't words, but I can tell you I belong to a group nationally who does everything we can to honor our Vets, and to do whatever helpful things we can do for them.
