re:bye bye!

Are you now without humor?

I am not without humor but I get tired of the partisanship call. While I share many of the same views as the Dems., I am not a member of that party.

I also am tired of the way the debate on issues runs here. If you don't agree with the popular theme on this thread, then you are deemed unacceptable or out of line.

Ironically, I don't always start out strongly disgreeing. For an example, I thought this confrontation with Iraq was appropriate to some degree. I think it could set an example for other rogue nations and maybe bring some of them in line. It would also serve notice to Saddam that he has very little whiggle room and he'd better behave. If it turns out that war can't be avoided well so be it......I don't like it but I can live with it.

However, the argument on this thread is that you either love the whole issue and are behind Bush 100%, or you belong with the opposition camp and are a traitor. In fact I understand the need for addressing Saddam but frankly, I am more bothered with the way its been handled. And yes, its true, I don't care for Bush. But more importantly, I think he came on too strong too soon and made it difficult for some people to get on board, and I don't like the fact that because of his own ineptness or insecurities, he's blown off a number of countries that have traditionally been in our corner........countries like Canada, Germany and Sweden. Serious damage has been done, particularly with the relationship between us and Germany, and it will take years to repair. It didn't have to be this way.

And finally, I am sick of the threats and name calling. When some people can't support their arguments with facts, they stoop to that level as a sad form of retaliation.

So to answer your question, I have lost my humor and maybe its time to take some time off from here. I like challenging issues and dialogue, but not confrontative politics. The latter seems to have taken over this thread.
