It would be an extension of the arguments apologists use against the USA regarding Iraq. The French have many contracts with Iraq in terms of industrial machines and those have allegedly been used to develop Iraqi weapons - the connection is that Iraq has been alleged to or could give weapons to terrorists developed on equipment purchased from France.

So when people claim the war is about oil, it's true oil and the monies France derives from it's lucrative contracts with Iraq. They are only protecting their self interests at the expense of their relationship with the USA.
