American people and Chinese people are already good friends.

While the sentiment is romantic I don't believe it to be true at all. I'd say the "American people and Chinese people respect each others power and keep their distance".

>>I think that the US and China will eventually become great allies.<<

I sure hope so, and let us discuss/solve all the differences in a civilized manner. Although, personally, I think this will need some attitude change from the "hawks" in the Washington, who still consider China as a potential enemy.

Mike, sounds like you must be a romantic guy, hehe. I think Chinese have been able to separate the US government from the US people. And I am sure a lot of Chinese think they have some real US friends, including me and a lot of my Chinese friends, even including my brother, and sister-in-law, who only came here for conference/project once a year. It is natural for us to have different opinions on a lot of things, but still we can be friends.

About Iraq, I think the best thing China can and will do is not to veto the US action.
