i think he is remembering those types of arguments against the 1964 civil rights law and wrongly applying it to his overall view of AA. Many folks do that.

The Libertarian position that no one should be forced to do business with anyone they don't want to, for any reason, had to give way to the reality of segregation. The problem is that once the laws enforcing segregation were removed, laws were passed enforcing reverse segregation, which is what AA is. One is as bad as the other. I could see it for the first 30 years as a "pump primer," but no longer.
