The problem is voters. They hear "tax cut" and say "yeah!", not realizing that if they're middleclass they're getting crumbs, the rich are getting millions and the Treasury is being drained including their social Security, Medicare and other program funding they may be in dire need of. Things like college scholarship money, virtually everythning but military gets cut, cut, cut. But the government spends more. No small government here. It's deficit spending time.
Clinton raised taxes and the economy boomed. Bush lowered them and we're in an endless deflationary recession with more and more unemployment. New report sees corporations spending and hiring almost at a standstill. And young people dont feel cheated? Not just a boom-bust cycle but fuel on the fire. Someone is going to have to pay, first the states, then every one of us, but until 2004 Bushies will try to have us living in blind denial. His war is an important part of that great diversion. So long as he can say we're at war he can get away with a lot, then dump it on his successor.
