I've been listening to Nora Jones' CD now for about three weeks and, for a change, my taste seems to be in line with the voters. Usually I'm really out of step with popular taste - I'd have thought Eminem would have taken the award. But I really like it - exceptionally tasteful arrangements and she has a very nice style (I have read some critics who are dismissive of her, but I can't understand their criticism). My main criterion for a great CD is being able to keep it as one of the 5 CD's on my player for more than a month, and this one fits.

But one I like even more, and which wasn't nominated for a Grammy, is Cassandra Wilson's "Belly of the Sun". I put it on at the same time as Nora Jones, and on first listening, preferred Jones. However, now I'm shifting to Wilson; her interpretations of songs like "The Weight" and "Shelter from the Storm" sound better and better time I hear them.
