These guys are great American heroes i would say the thing they are greatest at is benefitting themselves. also, they have a great PR department.

True, but you forgot the main benefit, which has been and will be to subscribers, who enjoy a vast consumer surplus. <the benefits their endeavors have provided employees, shareholders, San Diego (the opera in particular) and Korea economies, etc.> Also, they aren't great American heroes, they are great global achievers. They've achieved great things for well over 100 million people around the world and the number is growing very quickly. QUALCOMM isn't simply an American company. It's a global company. The company has drawn capital, employees and suppliers from around the world, using the support of the USA legal, political and military systems to protect it. All components are necessary.
