On long positions, I don't throw in the towel at any particular price (especially if I'm investing in a potential turnaround). I simply watch the situation for a year or two...and if things don't seem to be moving along, or I determine that my reasoning was faulty or just plain wrong, I sell. Sometimes, I'm lucky and make a profit anyway.

Shorts are a different matter. On occasion I have bailed out of a squeeze for a loss.
