AUD doing nicely? :)

Was arguing with my chairman on the merits of applications from Chinese students to do grad study with us. He and other senior faculty think all Chinese credentials are a fraud and not worth anything. I said: "but they have high GRE (graduate record exam) scores too". "But they did that in China". So he thinks GRE scores are a fraud too.... One was from a woman who worked for KPMG in China "she probably got that job because her father is a communist party official"... her English was excellent and backed up by a very high verbal score in the GRE and TOEFL... apparently in the past they just routinely rejected all Chinese applications.... I find these attitudes hard to understand... he is new in this position but has the same attitude as the previous chair... These people have documents from Fudan Uni and Beijing Normal and the GRE is meant to be a reality check to prevent against fakery....
