David Re...The argument, however, that going to war with Iraq will increase the threat of terrorism in the United States may not be true.

That hasn't been shown to be true in the past, in wars we have won. It is the long stalemated wars that have been the problem. What has been shown to be true, is that US troops in the middle east to contain Saddam has been a mistake, as Al qaeda grew at a rapid rate because of OBL hatred of uS troops in SA,; which were sent there during the Gulf war, and left there to contain Saddam, the no fly zones, put in to contain Saddam, and the sanctions, put in to contain Saddam. France, Germany, and the rest, who argue that we can keep on containing Saddam, without repercussions are dead wrong, as containing Saddam has given rise to AL qaeda. If we get rid of Saddam, we can remove the troops from SA, and Kuwait, end the sanctions, and the no fly sones, and the middle east should stabilize. Now, I know we will need troops in Iraq to stabilize the democracy, but we can remove the troops in SA and Kuwait, so the end result should be neutral. As for costs, it shouldn't cost any more than we spend now to maintain troops in SA and Kuwait, and to control the no fly zones. And there hopefully will be an end in sight to our involvement, as within 5 to 10 yrs, and representative gov. should be established in Iraq. As it is now, the tensions are rising and there is no end in sight, and SA could be threatened if Saddam and OBL join forces.
