What I want to know is: what do you do or say to those who oppose your action claiming that it will lead to something worse than the status quo. Do you owe them anything? Do you owe them a heads up that you're taking the action so that they can take defensive measures for whatever result they fear? And it if comes to pass that they were right, the bad result they predict actually befalls them, do you owe them anything?

In my example, granny feared that the music blaster would escalate and harm her cat. Your response was: "If I had a bully riding my ass for months, and I was finally in a position to wrestle him to the ground, but the neighbors condemned me and tried to stop the fight, would I be in the wrong to tell them to get lost while I put the bully in his place?" It sounds like that's all there is to it as far as you're concerned.

What I want to know is whether you have any interaction with the naysayers before or after you take action and if it matters to you whether or not it turns out that they were right?
