For the first time I can recall (and I go back to 1966 with HP), going back to both John Young and Lew Platt days, Carly has the company focused on properly scaling expenses to business levels.

My experience with HP was very different: computer-related labs single-mindedly focused on controlling costs, often the expense of product development. Not surprisingly, the printer and imaging's share of HP profits has risen from 50% in the 90's to over 80% today. Carly ought to shed HP's unprofitable computer operations but will not do it because her pay is (indirectly) tied to the size of the company. So she will continue to milk HP for what it is worth (and then some) while the stock price continue to decline.
