Any opinions on the increased talk of an acquisition by Yahoo or MSN? Overture can now be had for half the price of a few weeks ago and it would include Alta Vista and FAST as well as all the traffic that goes along with them. Whomever buys it would easily be solidified as the #1 search engine in terms of volume. Overture is already profitable, so it would only add to Yahoo or MSN's bottom line once paid for. Additionally, it would eliminate the need to "revenue-split"... the acquiring company would vastly increase their profit margin by keeping ALL of the revenue. Google nor anyone else would be able to compete... it would just be Yahoo or MSN capitalizing on their own huge traffic flows.

I have always shunned the rumors about this sort of thing in the past, but now it appears to make sense given the current situation. If it happens, lets hope its at a nice premium!
