I suppose they didnt make it up, but they are trying to use it for their advantage. How can you place a phone trade for xyz with just your acc# and the last 4 and then expect to go through months of hassle when you try to xfer an account from them? All they need is a box with a place to put an x after you log in with your account # and password.For extra protection they could request an email reply from your registered email address or to be even more sure a phone call to your home with your registered phone # on file? Ive done it all and you can bet if this was the requirement that was expected Rydex would have gotten one from me. It is simply a delaying tactic used by Ameritrade to hasten the Mass exodous from its business. Maybe they can say its extra security for terrorist protection? Im sure Bush and Company would applaud their diligence. What really pisses me is the over 10k dollars in commissions I have paid Datek< and to be treated like a traitor when Im ready to move on to something better< when its they who have changed and not myself!
