<If the company makes lots of money in the future like you expect it to, then let's tie his compensation to real profitability when the company actually makes the money, not pay him a billion dollars in salary now that is extracted from shareholders before the company has even had time to reach its stride. The man has plenty of shares, and plenty of incentive without getting another billion dollars in salary or stock options. (Note: this billion dollar figure I am using is an unconfirmed figure for stock option compensation based on the figure that you gave me. )> Huey, I agree with that idea - of paying a share of the profits. Giving share options is more or less the same thing. If the company is a dud, going nowhere, the share options won't be worth anything. If the company makes big profits, then the shares will be worth a lot. So it's more or less the same thing. Re the individual share option compensation, I don't know what various individuals got, but Irwin Jacobs' share of the company is known and he has a worth of about $1 billion, which mostly came from QUALCOMM. Actually, his net worth is probably worth less than that now. I forget what it is exactly. I can't recall how much he originally invested, back in 1985, but I suppose it was quite a bit. They joined up with Allen Salmasi and others too. So not all the $billion came from stock options and salary. I don't recall saying I knew the individual share options of employees. I doubt that information is even available. Perhaps information on a few of the top recipients is. I don't really care. I have a fair idea of what Irwin Jacobs has received, Paul Jacobs and a few others. Near enough for my purposes. The value of the stock options was because we capitalists bid the share price up to silly heights at the end of 1999. If the share price had stayed at 1997 levels, we wouldn't be talking about $1 billion in Irwin Jacobs' ownership. Mq PS: Thanks for the free personal assessment of my character and size of my mind.
