I think another factor not listed in your post is the money supply - which also has an impact on the relative value of the Yuan. The last time I was in China - conversion of Yuan to USD was not allowed.

Same here. Assuming supply remains the same, yuan should go up. Artificially holding down to increase foreign trade reserve.
