Nokia Begins Shipments Of New 3650 Camera Phone
Wednesday February 26, 3:57 am ET

biz.yahoo.com

STOCKHOLM -(Dow Jones)- Nokia Corp. Wednesday said it has begun shipping its 3650 camera phone to retailers in Europe, North America and Asia.

The world's largest mobile-phone maker had already begun selling a Chinese version of the 3650 in China and Hong Kong last month.

The 3650, which Nokia unveiled last fall, is intended to be a less expensive follow-up to the 7650 camera phone that the Finnish company began selling last year. It includes a video recorder and color screen and supports picture- messaging.

The mobile-phone industry is counting on camera phones to help spur interest in picture-messaging, which operators hope will build on the success of text- messaging.
