This markets is close to getting a pop up - I think - gulp

Lets hope so. I've grown tired of reminding those with short memories to keep the politics off this thread as we have a ruined AMAT thread for talking politics.

MSFT just got an upgrade

HPQ: I'm a long time holder of that stock (worked there for 20 yrs) and am surprised by the extent of the sell-off today. When they were battling over the merger, many didn't think it was possible to merge two large companies and make a profitable PC company. Well, they turned a profit on the PC business and now Laura Conig' is picking nits and downgrades it to MKT PERFORM and it sells off 10%. A tech stock making money with a p/e below 20, growing income and paying a dividend above money rates and people sell it... amazing. I did some of my annual diversification selling when it was over $20 and I am tempted to buy those shares back.

Bob I prefer the using these McClellan Charts. Notice how the bottoms line up with the previous market bottoms.

The market still looks top heavy here to me but we are seeing loads of volatility and we could find a bottom in a few weeks. The volatility due to short covering is causing these quick and furious pops higher then fear sets in as sales of long positions weaken any strength. The lack of volume on the buying continues to allow the market to head back lower.

You know what I am hoping to see to point out a bottom. We are not there yet. And as always I could be way off in my analysis. I just don't think so.
