IMO the only thing that oil would have to do in any war with sadam would be to stop it's use as support for our enemies. IMO when sadam is gone the USA will still pay top dollar to the Iraqi people for their oil.

You are naive if you actually believe that. The U.S. has had a decades long policy of trying to control the Persian Gulf militarily. This new war against Iraq is just the next step in that process. I believe we allowed Saddam to attack Kuwait in 1990, so we could use it as a pretext to permanently station troops there. There is a lot of evidence pointing to that line of reasoning. The fact that our ambassador told Saddam we don't take sides in arab-arab disputes (essenitally, giving him the green light to attack Kuwait). The fact that it was known that Saddam was amassing troops on the border with Kuwait and we did nothing about it. The fact that it was known that Saddam was angry with Kuwait over an oil dispute and was threating an attack. The fact that U.S. officials said afterwards that they thought Saddam would stop at the oil fields in Northern Kuwait and not take over the entire country (obviously, they knew what he was up to). When we occupy Iraq after Saddam is gone, American oil companies will take over the Iraqi people's oil. Perhaps the Iraqi people will benefit more from U.S. control than the current dismal state of affairs in Iraq. But, the U.S. will be interested in profiting off Iraqi oil.

I have to say that Saddam has got to be the biggest moron in the world. He could have built a beautiful country for his people with all the oil reserves he possesses. But, he has chosen paths of destruction and war. What a bafoon!
