'Special Tax Preferences' = narrowly crafted loopholes in the tax codes that give a monetary advantage to a particular group of people... to the disadvantage of all other groups who bear the weight of taxes, and don't receive the special favor.

Problem: our massive, needlessly complex and corrupt tax codes tilts the economic playing field away from the Free Market, and in favor of those groups (usually sunset industries, and the well-connected) who can buy political favors.

This lowers the potential rate of economic growth for the entire economy, because economic decisions are not made for solely efficient market reasons, but to capture narrowly-based tax advantages.

Far better, for our country, to get rid of most of the tax loopholes and put everyone on a level economic playing field.
