Perhaps the real issue is simply that all the analysts thought the revenue consensus was an easy target and they missed it and that they are focusing on their disappointment and overlooking the operating leverage that will mean big bottom line gains once everyone stops worrying about war and starts spending money again. No one is looking ahead.

That said, it IS hard to look ahead. I support Bush, but this has gone on way too long and I think it's about to push us back into recession (if it hasn't already). He needs to resolve this one way or the other ASAP.

Go Duke!

Wouldn't putting cost in COGS rather than GSA make gross margins lower?

I thought you said they took costs out of GSA and put them into COGS; this implies to me that it went the other way:

biz.yahoo.com

"HP's decision to restate revenues and profits for its operating segments and shift some expenses out of the operating units into an overall pool makes profits tough to track, Goldman Sachs' Conigliaro said in a research note."
