well you see, your perspective which is not shared by the population at large, has driven large numbers of pro-business voters to the "other side" so to speak- and I am one.

You realize that the message the far right sends to women is very anti-business and anti-businesswoman. In my opinion it is also anti-woman. That is half of the fiscal side of the republican constituency. The population wants fiscal conservatism and a sort of "live and let live" social agenda. Niether party delivers this but Clinton was pretty close and thats why he remained popular even though he screwed up so badly. Bush might have been ok because he isn't a real hellfire Christian nutcase like so many of them, but he screwed the economy with iraq so he is toast.

BTW the best thing for republicans would be to drop the prolife stance because at a personal rights level RvW cannot be overturned by the supreme court, the leaders of the republican party I'm sure know this but don't want to tell the dummy footsoldiers. Unless we are going to force the parents of a minor to undergo surgery to keep a child alive due to some medical situation, we cannot force the mother of a fetus to keep a "child" alive. Its a rock solid case, personal rights.
