I happened across an example that allowed me to frame what is obvious to me in a manner that others could see. It's only one data point, but suggests the implications of my generalizations. If you visit vote.com often and look at the results, the variations in 50/50 to 90/10 on different questions gives a good indication of the emotional interest of that question. I've found that if I have a strong opinion that the 50/50 result is not there. And I found that on issues where I don't really care it is very close to 50/50. And I've been in the 10% and 20% a few times.
