Typical elitist attitude. Those dumb poor folk need you to take care of'em tell'em what's good for'em.

That's not what I said at all. I just stated a fact that the military ranks aren't filled with a bunch rich kids. I didn't say I know what's good for poor kids (I have no idea where you are getting that?). If poor kids pick up a marketable skill or get to go to college as a result of their military service, then more power to them.

What I was arguing for is a little more fairness in the way the military is derived. I'm not a big fan of the military myself. But, I think it would be fair to reinstate the draft, so that all in society are subject to military service. Poor people can still serve voluntarily and pick up valuable skills if they wish. But, rich people would also have to serve their country under a draft system. Why not? We're all living in the same country, aren't we? Rich and poor should defend it alike IMO.

I suspect we'd have less wars and military actions if rich folks had their kids serving and dying in the military. Just a suspicion?!? Nothing like sending someone else's kids into battle to die. Out of sight, out of mind. I grew up in a wealthy town. I know what wealthy people think (or don't think) of the lower socio-economic classes in society.
