Sorry, C2. I gave up on the war on drugs. We are going at it wrong, and I just get pissed when I read about it anymore. It's like discussing the bottom end of the K-12 school system with John. He wants more of the same, just add men and money, and I see it as so structurely flawed that it will have to get worse, so that we can change the structure, before it gets better.

On the subject of Charles Bowden's "Down by the River", locals might want to check out #reply-1836557 , #reply-18365593 , #reply-18365628 and links therein for a review and excerpts. I have no idea if Charles is related to Mark, he seems to write well enough to be, though.

If you are interested in the war on drugs, as I am, an absolutely not-to-be missed read is Charles Bowden's Down By The River.

Another Bowden (Mark Bowden) wrote Killing Pablo, a look at the war against drugs (Pablo) in Columbia. The US Delta force was involved seriously and unofficially. Fascinating story.
