Not quite sure I get your argument. Am I the only one left defending the French? I've been spending most of my time defending the war on the "don't start the war" chain.

-Americans fought & died so that the French could be free to make decisions for themselves.
-Without the French, We would not have won our independence.
-Without the French resistance, D-Day & the liberation of Europe(not just France) would have been far more difficult.
-The French fought along with us in the Gulf war.
-The UN was created as a Democracy for all nations to air their views. Perhaps the US should never have used the UN(We did not bother when it came to Kosovo). To bash the French for using a Democratic forum because they disagree with us is too strong for me.
-The French stood with us facing down the Soviet Union.
-They are one of our top trading partners. Many American companies make a lot of money selling to the French.
-France is a Democracy like us. Their people are free & the women have equal rights. We have so much in common with them.
-The differences between the US & France on the Iraq issue are not as great as the hyperbole in the press makes it appear. The French want more time for inspections. I think they are misguided, but it is not a ridiculous argument. Hussein is not an IMMEDIATE threat to the world. Removing Hussein is good for the longterm & I am in favor of his forced removal.
-I agree that the French were totally out of line for reprimanding the Eastern Eropean states that backed the US.
