Sorry, though I did, indirectly.

I don't know what laws are in his country. Here the law doesn't not allow restaurants to discriminate based on a bunch of stuff including national origin. (I think it has something to do with bigotry. <g>) But professional people can decline to take on clients they can't get along with. If you didn't want to take the case of a Frenchman, I think you'd have to find some other reason than his nationality. You could probably do that pretty easily. It's harder to do that in a pizza joint. Unless the guy tried to go in without shoes. Perhaps, since we're into stereotypes, the proprietor could turn all French away on the basis that they smell bad. That would be a legitimate reason criterion for a restaurant.
