Right-wing Christians are 85% for war in Iraq. By far the most pro-war group. Funny, I was brought up being taught that Jesus said turn the other cheek and love thy neighbor as thyself. But these Christian soldier types are really on a crusade. So long as it's a Muslim country they're for attacking. Has the right-wing brain-washed itself post 9-11 about Bush's "good versus evil" mentality or what? We're good and they're evil. Unfortunately the world is not so simple. Many innocent people will die during any war, and in this case the real reason behind this is either oil, politics or both. Plus the money used for war will mean fewer poor people and children will be fed, educated and cared. Those are the first programs which will be cut to pay for this war.

funny that you say Jefferson believed:

Diests believed that after creating the world, God had nothing more to do with it. And therefore all revelation was bunk. That is exactly the type of Deist Jefferson was.

wonder why such a deists would say this:

"God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever."

sure does not sound like an inactive God to me..
