There is something fishy about the whole open primary system. Is it right to use State laws to define the process by which the parties select their candidates? What are we doing coupling the legislative branch of government with internal party rules?

And seems incestuous for Democrats to invite Republicans to help them decide this process and visa versa. What's in it for them?

My intuition tells me this is a big question with lots of implications, but I haven't thought about it much actually.
