>>the primary mission becomes self-perpetuation<<

The primary mission is always self-perpetuation. Always.

The difference between command economies and free market economies is that in a free market economy, the consumer is part of the equation.

I buy from you what you want to sell, and I want to buy.

Hard to fake, or misinterpret.

OT : <You realize that there hasn't been a program in the history of the govt of the United States that does this right? The feedback loops and constant evolution toward successful solutions is a feature of the market, not govt>

Then sub-contract it out to the Gates Foundation.

I agree fully, that government programs tend to become ineffective little empires, where maintaining budgets and salaries is far more important than serving the public or achieving any measurable result. But then, you can see the same inefficiencies in the army and public education system. How do you feel about privatizing them?

Once a govt social program is created, no matter how noble the intentions or how well-thought out the plan, the primary mission becomes self-perpetuation.

Jacob has good intentions, but he keeps coming up with Utopian solutions. A classic example of a Drug program that gets more funding as it fails even worse is D.A.R.E.
