I would be very surprised if Saddam went through with his desire for martyrdom - he'll run - just as de Gaulle did. He has about as much courage as Arafat.

As I recall, Charles de Gaulle did not run. He was one of the militant French officers that would not compromise.

I too have disagreements with Chairman Arafat, but staying in your compound while Israeli tanks are firing up your building, does not indicate cowardice IMO.
