The nuclear response to chemical & bioweapons policy just clarifies what has been U.S. for a long time...since the 1960s. Nothing new except it's explict.

The pre-emptive strike policy on potential capability is new and radical. I expect this will be modified by the next administration, even a second GWB one. This is likely to be the most radical & dangerous policy of this administration, and the most stupid.

As for unilateralism isolating the U.S. - Countries that are unhappy with U.S. policies can stop dealing wtih us and selling to us anytime they wish. Since many nations are working hard to keep the value of their currency down so they can sell more to the U.S., this is unlikely.

Even Castro whines about the U.S. not selling to him.
Iraq has been selling oil to the U.S. for a long time.
The unhappy countries are welcome to join North Korea ,Burma, Cuba , Sudan and a few others...
the only one of much importance is Iran.
