It was the year before I became truly glued to baseball. Avila I certainly remember, along with Vic Wertz (hit the shot that Mays caught). They were a team of heavy lumber--I just can't find their outfield or third baseman in my memory. I don't think Rocky Colavito or Chico Carrasquel (not that he was a big hitter) was on the team yet. I'm sure that I will squirm with embarrassment when I hear the names of their OF, C and 3B.
