IMO, if the president had important things to say about Iraq then he should make an address to Congress or to the entire nation...Instead he gives a speech to The American Enterprise Institute (Richard Perle's playground -- it's loaded with NeoCONS -- some of the same folks that have brainwashed Bush about going to war in Iraq)...Nothing like preaching to the choir...When will the compelling case for War be made..?

Michael,

It was indeed a great speech. He said everything I wanted him to say plus an unexpected nudge aimed at Israel. This is the context speech that has been missing. Now he needs to repeat it and repeat it and repeat it (90% of politics is repeating the same message over and over).

He does need to lose the gleeful line he has about the AQ that have been killed. Very unstatesmanlike. That said, he looked as comfortable as I can remember him during a TV speech.

I am certainly relieved that my vision of the future and the Bush vision aligned so well. I was way out on the skinny branches and he wasn't saying much.
