the thing wasn't predicting my symbol cept maybe 50% of the time.....what a pisser to find out that it is because I can't add and subtract.



I sent that to a lady friend of mine who, after nine trys, kept saying, "it doesn't work for me".

I finally asked her to have her 10 year old daughter do the math for her. Problem solved.

The general concept that thing is based on is called the digital root. General meaning across many number system bases. The digital root of the number system is the base - 1, so for base 10 (decimal) it is 9. All bases have similar properties with respect to their digital roots, although some digital roots are more special than others. Base 10 happens to have one of the more special ones. One of the reasons is that 9 has an integer square root, 3.

There, that's what you needed, a lecture on number theory, right? :-)
