Jack, are you still on the short side here? I'm believing there will be a rally in here, maybe taking the S&P past 875 and perhaps towards 920s? Too many people short, and not enough optimism to fuel further down at this particular moment. Lots of pent up energy waiting for the Iraq situation to unfold. Volume anemic in both directions but the anemic up volume has outpaced the anemic down volume. While I strongly believe the short positions I've dumped will be very profitable in the longer run, we've had 3 down months in a row. I think we are going to have an unexpected rally here for a few weeks. I think there may be a better opportunity to short here in a few weeks than to remain short right now. There are too many people on the short side which, in my opinion, creates tinder for a short term long position. Strong resistance of the DOW to break 7700 and the S&P to breakdown to the October lows at this time.

What do you think (sans politics)?
