The economic scenario is your case with the child being left outside. I was told the abortion debate is the medical situation above though.

There is no essential difference here. To see this you must strip from your mind false dichotomies of "medical" versus "economic" and think here in essentials. All of it is economic and that it all deals with the choices that sustain (or destroy) life. Both children are placed in environments by their parents that make it virtually impossible for them to survive. In both cases the parents are being negligent, yet the law condemns the parents of one child and literally supports, with funds, the parents of the other. The law is illogical.
