I don't think so, they were given guidelines but their stories weren't censored and there were never any incidents of improper info getting out.....

What did the press do in Vietnam to deserve censorship...?? Show bodies and GI's torching villages????

The press had nearly zero restrictions during the Vietnam war. I think the Government relearned the power of the press to persuade (both positively and negatively) adn decided they needed to control this weapon/tool of war.
