Like there is "evidence" that the state of Iraq is sponsoring terrorism??? Oh that makes me feel so much better :-) If you know of any such evidence, you might consider sharing it with Powell so he won't look like such a monkey in front of the UN Security Council the next time he presents what he calls "evidence" for the link between Saddam and Al-Qaeda. You seem to equate illegitimate authoritarian governments with "countries" What your country considers "legitimate" is irrelevant to the definition of a "country". Saddam is a dictator. Iraq is a secular dictatorship, just like many before him, some of which were and are US allies. Pakistan is ruled by a dictator, but it is a US ally. Pinochet's Chile was a US ally, and oh it was the US who literally placed this dictator in power. So please, my dear Hawk, do NOT even try to say "Oh but we just decided that all authoritarian governments are fair game, since we don't consider them 'legitimate'."Legitimate governments, meaning through free and fair opposed elections Stop right there, Hawk. Aren't you going a little too far? Who are you to say what a "legitimate government" is and what is not??? Do you have any idea how many countries on this world have other means of governing themselves than your particular brand of "legitimate government"? Think Saudi Arabia, a long-term US ally, for one. Btw, isn't Monaco a principality?? That's not a democratic government, now is it?? Yes, and it is not the only one. Do you see the problem now? I would love to see you try to argue that the residents or Monaco are suffering oh so much, and are longing for the US to come invade and save them from the Prince. Wanna try? I am all ears...
