(sigh) I knew someone would come along to miss the point, having apparently not properly read the thread. I had hoped against hope I would not have to continually spell the matter out. The Constitution does not bind us to exact nit-picking practices of the past, but to essential philosophies extant in the past. Slavery was once allowed by the Constitution. But the Constitution did not bind us to the nit-picking practice of the Triangular Slave Trade. It actually bound us to a broader concept of freedom.
