Why do you think a majority of Oregonians rejected a temporary tax hike? A ton of horror stories were conjured up by the tax supporters, including releasing prisoners, reducing law enforcement, shortening the school year, etc. Are Oregonians just plain selfish, or is there something else? No, no one wants to pay higher taxes particularly if unemployment is rising rapidly. Why are you surprised? The damage was done years before. When famine is already upon you, its too late then to try and grow more crops. ted
