Zacks view point...A land of many contradictions

I truly admire the Indian cricket team and its ardent fans. To vent their rage at not progressing in the World Cup the fans have targetted "local" boy, Mohammed Kaif (incidentally the only Muslim in the Indian cricket team), and damaged his house.

As I caustically wrote to pandit in an one-liner email accompanying the link:

Seems that the endeavours of your family are lost when the Indian population vent their frustations on the single Muslim player of the Indian cricket team... Akhund Bharat indeed where if Muslims don't pander to the majority opinion they either have to depart for Pakistan or make their place in Kabaristan(graveyard) :)

A propos I heard that Ganguly's property also suffered at the hands of rioters nevertheless one cannot but discern the alien nature of Muslims within India and how they are scapegoated. Pakistan's cricket team has had an admirable record for religious minorities (where they form 3% of the general population) since Danish Kaneria (Hindu untouchable) and Yousuf Youhana (Christian, descendant of Hindu untouchable) are players for the Pakistan cricket team. Silent achievements such as these where Pakistan continually integrates her minorities into the mainstream of our society are a further indication of our inherent tolerance. The Pakistani team is notable for the number of times it has missed many an opportune and squandered perfectly good matches nevertheless I haven't read yet of Kaneria's or Youhana's house being burnt down by mobs.

Ps: India seems to be doing pretty well and one can only await Saturday's match where Pakistan or India must prove their mettle. It will be an "interesting" event...
