The issue is not about preference - it is about integrity with nature.

>>> OK, to prove that, one must look to nature for the evidence. (You can't simply assume things are a certain way... just because you want them to be).

>>> And the natural sciences are full of thousands of examples of different sexual practices being common among species... including among the species closest to humans.

>>> And when we turn to the history of humans specifically and look at the common practices... we see there too that variance is common.

>>> So, make any claim you want to about what is 'best' for human society, or 'most moral', and I won't argue with you.

>>> But don't claim that 'nature' proves monogamy is the natural sexual state... because nature most assuredly does NOT!

>>> If I wanted 'integrity with nature'... then perhaps the most approved of goal to be divined from nature would be to spread my genes as far and wide as I possibly can, because that does seem to be the one 'biological imperative' of species. (Please read Dawkin's "The Selfish Gene" for a fuller popular explanation.)
