It's not bush I detest, but the USA he envisions.

He is simply responding to the facts he was presented with. Hard to fault a man for that.

I think the new Fred Thompson ad has it about right ... "When somebody asks me, 'What did Iraq ever do to us'? my answer is, 'What had Al Qaeda done to us before 9/11'?"

Bush obviously, correctly concluded after 9/11 that the only way to insure it doesn't happen again is to stem the tide of Anti-Americanism in the Middle East. Makes sense to me. The way to do that is to fundamentally change the region. Democratizing Iraq, if successful, will bring about a more pro-American attitude in the region, and that is what we need.

He could be a democrat and I would still detest his policies.

The fact that you supported the Clinton wars pretty much eliminates any credibility on this statement.
