All Arabs are barterers and Saddam is no different. He will always "grind" any kind of deal for as long as it is being negotiated ( which will be forever as there are many parts of this affair ).

It would probably be 100% impossible to strictly enforce a human rights code but certain regulations could be monitored by other Arabs. This would allow Saddam to save some"face" and might allow him some wiggle room. Knocking heads with a male Arab is counterproductive. We have to be able to build some mutually acceptable terms.

THe people of Iraq do not want their country destroyed by a massive bombardment. They are accustomed to their way of life and would rather continue as is before they risk the lives of their family members...............that isn't too much to believe........people are people and no one wishes war. I do believe that we could contain Saddam and slowly move toward a better coexistence. Yes it would be constant vigilance and a game of cat and mouse but it beats losing thousands of lives.

Some Jordanian friends of mine just returned from Jordan and the wife is an MD that was educated in Baghdad. Foreigners with money aren't bothered by the military there.......or so she said.

I do not believe that Saddam is a partner to Al Quada.

Gotta run...have more to say but no time right now.

A couple of months ago, Saddam invited the United States to send the CIA into his country to find whatever it thought it could find. As far as I know, that offer wasn't accepted by the US.

Anyone know anything more on this?

An Iraqi general was on television yesterday, saying he'd seen on American television news report about a new bomb the US has developed, one capable of going very deep into bunkers in order to take out weapons of mass destruction. The general rightly pointed out that bombs like that must cost a lot of money. He further stated that waging a war costs a lot of money. He then asked why would the taxpayers want to pay all of that money when all the US has to do is give the coordinates, of where they wish to drop this bomb, to the UN inspectors and let them go get what the US says its bomb will do.

The two examples above gotta tell us something, don't you think?
